There is a lot of speculation about whether Snape really is evil. Many people think that when Dumbledore was pleading, Snape was using Occlumency to read his thought and Dumbledore was actually pleading Snape to kill him rather than not to kill him.
I think this is a great theory. Dumbledore was not the type of man or wizard that would plead for his life was he? He did say afterall that "to the well organised mind, death is but the next great adventure".

I think that Dumbledore and Snape had a conversation going there, from Harry's POV it says that the two stared at each other for a moment, that means it was possible that they were communicating and also in the cave Dumbledore said that he knew he would be weakened by the potion and even pleaded Harry to kill him, does this not prove that he was pleading Snape to kill him?
Also if he knew of Draco's plan and knew that he was trying to kill him then why would he imobolise Harry? It wouldn't make any sence other than he wanted to die and he didn't want to be saved. That's just my theory though, just some rough ideas, i'm sure i'll come up with some more.

I think that's a great theory. I forgot about harry being imobolised, but of course, Dumbledore didn't want him to try and stop Snape

exactly my point, he was telling Draco that he could protect him because he knew that Draco wasn't a killer, just like Draco knew, hence why he cried. Dumbledore didn't want one of his students to become a killer and I think he knew of Snape's unforgiveable vow and so that is why he also told Snape to kill him so that he was indeed saving Snape.

yeah exactly. i was forgetting the Unbreakable Vow.
Dumbledore still trusted Snape and knew that if Snape broke the vow he'd die. He wants Snape alive because he's such a valuable spy.

yup, that's a really good theory, tee hee. Dumbledore died and pleaded to die to save Snape because he trusted him and didn't want him to die.
